I think it’s as good as Morningstar’s, and it has a good
selection of preset screens, starting with Head of the Class. At this
writing, that’s Oceanstone Fund, my no-load fund of the day. See:
Yahoo’s Mutual Fund Center opens with its list of l4 Top
Performing Mutual Funds. Two are rated four stars by Morningstar and none is a
five-star fund. Of the 14, only one is up double digits for the last 3 years,
12 months, and 3 months (JSGMX)—but it has a back-end sales commission
supplemented by a 12b-1 charge. For me, both features are deal killers.
Even though its screeners compete with Morningstar’s, Yahoo reports Morningstar’s star-fund ratings.
All in all, there’s a lot to like about finance.yahoo.com.
