What’s the Market Doing?

I don’t much care for the customary response to that question, because it tells us only what the Dow is doing.
For a grand overview, check my five-year VTI chart. For information that may help you decide whether or not to buy or sell today, check my three-month VTI chart.
Here’s a related investment strategy I might use if my portfolio were a great deal larger than it is:
I’d buy VTI exclusively and hold it for the rest of my life, buying more shares near the bottom of every major bear market.
Between acquisition points, I’d build cash by putting surpluses above living expenses into a mix of money-market funds and MLPs.
