The Jobs Situation Now?


The fastest-growing job segment is patient care. Trouble is, the average or typical wage there is $9.70 an hour—suggesting $20,176 yearly, which is below the nation’s poverty line for a family of four ($23,550). But it’s $14,350 for a one-person household.
Writing in the New York Times of May 28, columnist Thomas L Friedman discussed a new trend among employers: “They just want to know one thing: Can you add value?”
