Writing in The New York Times of June 8, Jeff Sommer points
out that a million dollars still sounds like a lot of money but isn’t enough to
buy an average apartment in Manhattan—but is more money than 9 in 10 American
families possess.
Jeff’s lengthy piece sounds a lot like what I said in the
nineteen-eighties about retirement planning, how inflation impacts it, and why
it’s so important to learn how to invest your own money (especially in stocks
and no-load stock funds).
