I think a first-time visitor to Value Line might begin a tour by clicking Dow 30 Stock Reports. That will bring up
a list of the 30 blue-chip stocks. Now:
First, click Timeliness
Rank and then Safety Rank. Then,
jot down the ticker symbols rated #1 (best) for both timeliness and safety.
Just now, there are only three: CSCO (Cisco), MSFT
(Microsoft), VZ (Verizon).
Next, click Research Report for each stock rated #1.
The report’s two wide columns of type tell you everything
you need to know to understand the company and what it does.
First, read these two sections of narrative: BUSINESS, followed by a descriptive
narrative of the company’s state of health, as here:
• Cisco Systems is
beating the competition.
• We think the company
will be able to maintain its gross margin.
• The company’s order
book is looking better.
• These shares are
attractive on multiple fronts.
AAII, Morningstar, Value Line, and Yahoo have long been my
favorite four sites for identifying stocks and funds worthy of detailed
research. Value Line is the resource that first helped me develop a following as an investment manager.
